Reconstruction of public transportation routes

Advanced Spatial Analysis

A GIS combines geographical with statistical analysis, allowing to find associations between geographical areas and data. This is crucial in many application scenarios, one of this is public transportation management.

Cooperating with the High Institute for Transportation Training  and Research we worked on advanced spatial analysis, which gave us the opportunity to rebuild the road schema for all the routes of the suburban public transportation.

We combined data from different sources (e.g. GTFS feed) and performed calculations in order to estimate the optimal route between every stop junction, also taking into consideration the amount of people benefitting from the service.

We asked GeoDataLab for an advanced spatial analysis on road maps which gave us the opportunity to redesign the public transportation itineraries, estimating and building the most optimized routes between every stop.

We loved the innovative and open source solutions they suggested and we could immediately appreciate their efficacy.
